2011 World Cup Final Man Of The Match

The 2011 World Cup final was played between the host nations of the event India and Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium on 2nd April. It was India’s third final in the marquee event. India beat Pakistan to get into the finals while Sri Lanka hammered New Zealand to seal the final berth.

MS Dhoni won the Man of the Match award in the 2011 World Cup final for scoring 91* off just 79 balls. He smashed 8 fours and 2 sixes in his resilient innings. Dhoni came into bat when India was in trouble at 114/3 in 21.3 overs. From there the Indian skipper produced a stellar 109-run stand with Gautam Gambhir who scored a fabulous 97 in the game. The Ranchi boy showed the nerve of steel and finished the game with his trademark helicopter shot on the long-on off Kulasekara to take India home by six wickets and ten balls to spare.

India clinched their 2nd World Cup trophy after 28 years due to the combined performance by the whole team.
