      Dinesh Karthik Announced Retirement From All Forms Of Cricket

      One of the best wicket-keeper batsmen to play for Indian cricket, Dinesh Karthik announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on his birthday on the 1st of June. Karthik took the help of his “X” account to call it a day in professional cricket. He thanked all the fans, coaches, captains, selectors, and teammates for their support and love throughout his 19 years long journey.

      Dinesh last appeared for the Men in Blue during the 2022 T20 World Cup against Bangladesh and he scored 7 off 5 balls in the match. He last featured in an ODI during the World Cup 2019 semi-final in Manchester, making only 6 off 25 balls. In the red ball cricket, the classy wicket-keeper batsman played his last game against England in 2018.

      Making his international debut in 2004, the Tamilnadu batter played 180 games and scored 3463 runs with 17 fifties and a ton under his belt. His most popular innings was 29 off 8 balls against Bangaldesh in the 2018 Nidhas Trophy finals where he won the game for the country by hitting a six as the same number of runs were required off the last ball in Colombo. Dinesh was a part of the Indian team that won the 2007 T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy in 2013 .

      As a wicket-keeper, he grabbed 151 catches and effected 21 stumping in international cricket.

      After a memorable IPL 2024, Dinesh hung his boots from the Indian Premier League last month with 4842 runs in 257 outings in his name.
