Swashbuckling Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman smashes the fastest World Cup century for Pakistan in just 63 balls during their face-off against New Zealand.

After being invited to bat first, New Zealand posted 401/6 in 50 overs riding on a fluent century by Rachin Ravindra and skipper Willaimson’s quick 05 runs in Bangalore. In the pursuit of chasing the massive total, Zaman started nice and slow but accelerated his innings well to reach the three-figure mark in a mere 63 balls with the help of 9 sixes and 7 fours, including 15 runs in the 17th over off Glenn Phillips.

The southpaw shattered Saleem Malik’s record who scored a century in 94 balls during the 1987 World Cup against Sri Lanka in Faisalabad. The Karachi boy also eclipsed former Pakistani opener Imran Nazir in terms of hitting the most sixes in an ODI innings, having whacked 11 maximums today. Nazir slammed 8 sixes in his rampage innings of 160 off 121 deliveries against Zimbabwe in the 2007 World Cup.

Fakhar’s sensational knock has already put Pakistan in a strong position which could possibly help them to complete the chase successfully.
