The Indian Premier League or IPL has come a long way and is currently the most reputed T20 league in the world, having commenced in 2008. For a tournament that has gained huge popularity and made a place in every fan’s heart, the first thing is always special such as the first six, first run, first ball, first wicket, etc. The first wicket in the IPL was obviously taken between the game of Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

First Wicket In IPL History

Former spearhead of the Indian bowling lineup, Zaheer Khan took the first wicket in IPL history when he dismissed KKR skipper Sourav Ganguly who scored 10 runs in 12 balls. It was Brendon McCullum’s day and he was smashing the RCB bowlers for fun here and there. Ganguly’s wicket was the only wicket by Zaheer in the match and he finished with 1/38 in his spell of four overs.
