      Gautam Gambhir’s Highest Score In Test

      Gautam Gambhir is one of the greatest openers to ever play for India across all formats. He recently succeded Rahul Dravid as the new head coach of team India in July 2024. Gambhir was an outstanding test player due to his brilliant technique and resilience with the bat. His highest score on the test appeared in the first innings of the 3rd test of the Australia tour of India in Delhi in 2008. Opening the batting for India on his home ground, the Southpaw scored 206 runs off 380 balls with the help of 26 boundaries and a sole maximum against a robust bowling lineup made of Brett Lee, Stuart Clarke, Mitchell Johnson, and Shane Watson.

      Making his test debut in 2004 against Australia, he donned the whites for India in 58 matches and scored 4154 runs at an impressive average of 42.00 with 22 fifties and 9 hundreds in his name. Despite the likes of Sachin, Sehwag, Ganguly, etc, he could find a place in the team with his hard work and performance. Gambhir’s ability to time the ball against pacers and step out against the spinners aided him to thrive in the format.
