Gautam Gambhir’s Last IPL Match

Gautam Gambhir, the crisis man for India in the ICC events played his last IPL match during the 22nd game of IPL 2024 between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings. He represented his home side Delhi Capitals in his last year of the Indian Premier League. Chasing a modest total of 144 runs, the Southpaw made just 4 runs off 13 balls in his final innings of the marquee event. For their poor batting show, the hosts lost the game by a narrow margin of four runs in Delhi. The Delhite opener scored 85 runs in 6 outings in his last IPL season.

Gambhir embarked on the IPL journey in 2008 with Delhi Daredevils and stayed there till 2010. In 2011, he moved to Kolkata Knight Riders after being the highest-bid player in the auction. He led KKR to their first IPL title in 2012 and was their highest run-getter. In 2014, the Kolkata-based franchise clinched their second IPL trophy under Gauti by beating Punjab in the finals. He led KKR for three more years after that. Overall, he amassed 4217 runs in 154 matches at a decent strike rate of 123.88 with the help of 26 fifties.
