KeymasterGautam Gambhir’s Runs In T20 World Cup 2007
Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir represented India in the T20 World Cup in four editions- 2007, 2009, 2010, and 2012. Out of all, the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa was Gautam Gambhir’s best outing as India clinched the trophy in their first attempt. Gambhir ended the 2007 edition of the event as the second-highest run-getter with 227 runs in 7 matches at an impressive average of 37.83. The Southpaw smashed three 50s and often tried to give India a good start. Only Australia’s Hayden had more runs (265) than him in that edition.
His best innings in the mega competition came in the finals against Pakistan in Johannesburg. The Delhite opener scored a toiled 75 runs off 54 balls with the help of eight fours and two sixes. On the back of it, India posted a fitting total of 157/5 in their allotted 20 overs and later won the game by a narrow margin of five runs. Without Gambhir’s fluent knock, India couldn’t win the finals hence his contribution will also be remembered in Indian cricket.
