      Islam Makhachev’s UFC Record

      Islam Makhachev is one of the best mixed martial artists from Russia and a former sambo player. He won Gold in the Combat Sambo World Championship in 2016 in Sofia, although Islam started his MMA journey in 2011 at the M1 Global event and won the fight in his first round via a knockout. The ace fighter won all the fights at the promotion before arriving in the UFC.

      Islam Mahachev’s record at the UFC is an impressive 15-1, however, his overall MMA stats stand at 26-1. In his whole career, he has lost only a match and that too in his second game against Adriano Martins at UFC 192. Mahachev won seven matches via submission, five via decision, and three through a knockout.

      In his debut match against Leo Kuntz, he outplayed him in the second round via submission. His first big bout was against one of the oldest UFC fighters Gleison Tibau in 2018 and Islam knocked him out within 57 seconds in the first round.

      Makhachev’s next big fight was against the record knockout fight winner in the lightweight division Drew Dober. After a fierce face-off, he won the battle through submission by a triangle choke in the third round.

      After winning 14 fights on a trot, Islam faced the former lightweight champion Charles Oliviera for the title shot in 2022 and the Russian maestro beat him in the second round via a triangle choke. Hence Islam became the new lightweight champion in the UFC.

      Afterward, Islam faced Alexander Volkanoski twice for his title defense and came out victorious both times. He faced American ace, Dustin Poirier in his last fight in 2024 and beat him after an intense four rounds in the fifth round via submission.
