James Anderson Becomes First Pacer To Take 700 Test Wickets

Veteran English seamer James Anderson creates history,  becoming the first-ever pacer to take 700 wickets in tests. He achieved this rare milestone in his 187th game.

India and England’s 5th test of 2024 is underway in Dharamshala. Kuldeep Yadav was his 700th victim in the format. He Pitched the ball up and swung the ball away from the left-hander to get a healthy edge to Foakes in the 124th over of the 1st innings. Only two bowlers Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne took 700 wickets before but they both were spinners.

Anderson made his first appearance in tests 21 years back in 2003. The Lancashire seamer has 32 fifers to his name and he boasts a stunning strike rate of 56.96. His best bowling figure has been 7/41 against West Indies in 2017.

Apart from Tests, James Anderson is the highest wicket-taker for England in ODIs too. In 194 ODIs, the swing bowler bagged 269 scalps.
