Joe Root Creates Record For Most Test Centuries Against India

Veteran English Joe Root creates the record for the most test centuries against India, surpassing Australian Steve Smith’s tally of 9 centuries. Root also became the 1st batsman to score ten hundred against the Men in Blue.

Root achieved this amazing feat in the 1st innings of the 4th test of the 2024 England tour of India at JSCA, Ranchi. Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, England was in deep trouble before lunch and lost half of their side, credit goes to debutant Akashdeep’s hostile spell of three wickets. From that tough situation, Root crafted his way to an incredible century off 219 balls on a tricky surface and brought his team out of crisis. His toiled innings included 9 boundaries and plenty of singles and doubles.  After a disastrous first three games, Root was finally back to his regular form. On the back of his fabulous knock, England scored 309/7 on day 1.
