Lockie Ferguson Became First Bowler To Bowl Four Maiden Overs In T20I

New Zealand speedster Lockie Ferguson became the first bowler to bowl four maiden overs in a T20I match in the format’s history. He achieved this special feat against Papua New Guinea during the 39th match of the T20 World Cup 2024 in Trinidad.

Inviting the PNG to bat first, the Blackcaps folded them for a paltry score of 78 runs within 19.4 overs. It was a destructive bowling performance by the Kiwi bowling pool where each bowler took at least one wicket, however, Lockie Ferguson owned the show with his two consecutive maiden overs twice in his spell, including three wickets. His bowling figure of 3/0 is now the most economical in the T20 World Cup history. Despite having a disastrous run in the ongoing edition, New Zealand chased down the target within 12.2 overs and ended it on a high note.

Lockie Ferguson was conferred with the Man of the Match award for his hostile bowling spell.
