      Luis Suarez Retired From International Football

      One of the greatest footballers of all time, Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez retired from international football, following his team’s draw against Paraguay in the South American qualifier of the Fifa World Cup 2026 on 7th September. The Inter Miami star revealed earlier this week that he would make way for the youngsters in international football.

      Luis Suarez Retired From International FootballHaving made his international debut in 2007 against Columbia, the former Barcelona forward finished his seventeen-year glorious career as the leading goal-scorer for Uruguay with 69 goals in 143 games while winning the Copa America 2011 in Argentina for the national team will always be the highlight of his career where he contributed with four goals, including a strike in the finals against Paraguay.

      Before the start of his farewell game, Suarez was felicitated in an emotional ceremony with his family beside him on the pitch. Therefore the Uruguayan manager even gave the captain’s armband to Suarez.

      On the 18th minute of the game, the ace striker played a lovely volley which slammed the post multiple times but could not go inside the line. It was a tight game given the fact that both teams ran hard and showed insane intensity however, never got a lead.

      Suarez remained in the park for an entire 90 minutes and got a standing ovation from the 60000 crowd at Centenario Stadium after the final whistle from the referee.
