KeymasterMoeen Ali Announced Retirement From International Cricket
English spin-bowling all-rounder Moeen Ali announced his retirement from international cricket on Sunday, 8th August after being axed from the upcoming white ball series against Australia. In an interview with Daily Mail, Moeen Said- “I’m 37 years old and didn’t get picked for this month’s Australia series,” Moeen said in a Daily Mail interview. “I’ve played a lot of cricket for England. It’s time for the next generation, which was also explained to me. It felt the time was right. I’ve done my part.”
The Southpaw last featured for England during the 2024 T20 World Cup semi-finals against India In Guyana which they lost and got eliminated. Ali made his white-ball debut against West Indies in 2014 and first appeared in tests two months later during the Sri Lanka tour of England. Appearing in 298 across formats, he accumulated 6678 runs with the help of 8 centuries and 28 fifties whereas with the ball, he snared 366 scalps, including five fifers.
Moeen was a part of the England team which won the 2019 World Cup in England and the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
Ali has mentioned that he would continue playing franchise cricket and could get into the coaching role later. Currently, he is playing for Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League 2024. In the IPL, he has been a part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings.
