ODI World Cup Completed 48 years of golden journey in 2023 and the 12th installment of the World Cup is being played in India now. After 44 group matches, India, Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand have made it to the Super-four stage. Every team comes to the World Cup with the dream of holding it at the end of the event and for that, they have to go through the tough semi-finals. Teams with Most Semi Final Appearances In ODI World Cup
Australia
Five-time title winner Australia has made the most semi-final appearances in the ODI World Cup. From 1975 to 2023, The Oceanian nation has been a part of 9 semi-finals out of 12 times while winning it in 1987. 1999, 2003, 2007 & 2015. The Men in Yellow are a different beast in the marquee tournament, executing their plans effectively in batting, bowling, and fielding. Despite losing a few games in the 2023 WC initially, they came back strongly and will be facing South Africa in the semis on 16th November in Kolkata.
New Zealand
The 2nd place on this elite list of most semi-final appearances in the ODI World Cup goes to New Zealand. The Blackcaps have failed to lift the title so far, regardless of their amazing teamwork in the 2015 and 2019 editions. They waltzed into the semi-finals in the 1st two instalments of the World Cup too (1975 &1979).
India
Our beloved country India has appeared in the semifinals of the ODI World Cup 8 times out of 12 editions. In 1983, under the leadership of great Kalpi Dev India reached the semis for the first time and ended up winning the final against a formidable Windies side. After India’s memorable 2011 World Cup victory, they have entered the semis for four consecutive years, including this year. The Men in Blue will fare against New Zealand on 15th November in Mumbai and look to turn the table this time as they lost to them in the 2019 WC semi-finals.
