KeymasterMS Dhoni’s Last Match As Captain Of India
MS Dhoni is the greatest captain to lead India across all formats. For almost a decade, he captained the Men in Blue from 2007 to 2017. Hailing from the small town of Ranchi, Dhoni was recommended by the great Sachin Tendulkar for the captaincy role. Little did anybody know that MS Dhoni would achieve remarkable success as India’s captain and his tactics and acumen would be second to none. His first assignment for the Blue Army was the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa and the 2016 home ODI series against New Zealand in October was his last mission at the helm which he ended up winning by 3-2.
The wicket-keeper batter scored 41 off 59 balls in Visakhapatnam in a 190-run victory for India over New Zealand in his last game as captain. He also affected two stumpings in the match. However, Dhoni had to become the interim captain for India during a game against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2018, his 200th ODI game as a skipper.
In total, MS Dhoni has captained India in 332 matches and won 178 matches at an impressive win percentage of 53.61. However leading India to three ICC tournament triumphs (2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 World Cup, and 2013 Champions Trophy) will always be the highlight of his career. India even won the test mace in 2009, the 2010 Asia Cup, and the 2016 Asia Cup under his leadership.
