Musheer Khan Met A Fatal Road Accident, Will Not Play Irani Cup

One of the promising young prodigies of this country, former U-19 Indian batsman Musheer Khan met with a fatal road accident while traveling to Lucknow from Kanpur with his family on Friday, 27th September. Some sources suggest that he injured his neck in the unfortunate incident and is currently under the supervision of the BCCI and MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) medical teams. Hence Musheer will not be able to play in the Irani Cup.

The 19-year-old was with his father and mentor Naushad Khan and was supposed to be a part of the Mumbai Squad along with his brother and recent India debutant Sarfaraz Khan for the upcoming Irani Trophy match against Rest of India which is slated to be played by 1st-5th October in Lucknow.

The secretary of MCA, Abhay Hadap stated that- “Musheer is currently admitted to a hospital in Lucknow, where he remains stable, conscious, and well-oriented. He has suffered an injury in the neck region and is under close observation .”

According to Hadap, Musheer was going to Lucknow to participate in the Irani Cup with his family from his native place Azamgarh. He will be flown back to Mumbai on Sunday for further treatment and additional evaluation.

On his debut game of the recently concluded Duleep Trophy, Musheer scored a scintillating 181 runs against India A and it’s being said that he would be picked for India A for the upcoming tour of Australia ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
