      India’s Olympic gold medalist and star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra achieved a historic milestone in the Doha segment of the Diamond League 2025 on May 17, breaking the elusive 90-meter mark for the first time in his career. The 27-year-old athlete secured second place with a stunning 90.23-meter throw in his third attempt, while Germany’s Julian Weber clinched the gold with an impressive 91.06-meter throw in his final attempt.

      Historic Feat in Doha Diamond League

      A total of 11 athletes competed in the final, including another Indian contender, Jena Kishore. Chopra opened with a massive 88.44 meters, the longest first-round attempt among all competitors. Despite fouling his second attempt, he bounced back spectacularly in the third, launching the javelin beyond 90 meters, a career-defining moment.

      His subsequent throws measured 80.56 meters (fourth attempt) and 88.20 meters (final attempt), reaffirming his consistency at the highest level.

      Neeraj Chopra Joins Elite 90-Meter Club

      With his 90.23-meter throw, Neeraj Chopra became:
