      On this day in 2012, Sachin Tendulkar became the first player in the world to score 100 centuries in international cricket. It was Sachin’s 49th century in the ODIs and his first against Bangaldesh in the format.

      Team India was facing the hosts Bangaldesh in the Asia Cup in Mirpur in 2012. Opening the batting, Tendulkar scored a toiled 114 runs off 147 balls with the help of 12 fours and a maximum and took India to a respectable score of 289 in 50 overs. Although Bangladesh chased down the score in the 50th over and won the game by five wickets.

      Sachin Tendulkar Became First Player To Score 100 Centuries

      It took the Mumbai stalwart over a year to reach his 100th ton from 99th. His 99th hundred came against South Africa in the 2011 World Cup. To date, Sachin is the only player to score 100 centuries in international cricket.

      The highest run-getter in tests ended his ODI career with 18426 runs in 463 matches, averaging a captivating 44.83.
