Pat Cummins Became 2nd Australian To Take Hat-Trick In T20 World Cup

Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins became the 2nd Australian to take a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup during their opening Super Eight game against Bangladesh in the 2024 edition on 21st June. Overall, he is now the 7th bowler to take a hat-trick in T20 World Cup history.

Former Aussie seamer Brett Lee was the first bowler to take a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup which emerged in 2007 against the same opponent Bangladesh.

In the 3rd over of his four-over spell, Cummins first bowled Mahmudullah with a slower ball in the 5th delivery and then sent Mehedi Hasan back to the dugout in the 6th ball with a short-length delivery which he directed to the third man. Upon coming to end his spell, he struck again in the 1st ball of the 20th over and got Towhid Hridoy caught at the fine leg to complete his hat-trick. Cummins returned with an impressive figure of 3/29 in the game, helping Australia to restrict Bangladesh to 140/8 in 20 overs.
