Rohit Sharma Broke MS Dhoni’s Record, Becomes India’s Most Successful Captain

The present captain of the Indian cricket team Rohit Sharma broke MS Dhoni‘s record, becoming India’s most successful captain in the T20 format. He registered his 42nd victory as a captain during India’s win over Ireland in their first game of the T20 World Cup 2024 in New York.

Earlier MS Dhoni held the feat and had 41 triumphs in 72 matches at a win percentage of 56.94 to his name while Rohit Sharma has 42 wins in only 55 games with a staggering win percentage of 76.36. However, one significant factor that sets Dhoni apart from other Indian captains is that he led India to the 2007 T20 World Cup victory. If Rohit matches that record he will be the greatest ever to lead India in T20Is. Former skipper Virat Kohli sits third on the list with 30 wins in 50 games.

During the game against Ireland on 5th June, Rohit scored a smooth 52 off 37 balls to help India chase down a poor total of 96 runs. He smacked four 4s and three 6s in his half-century knock.
