Current Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s highest score in tests is 212 off 256 balls. This destructive innings came against South Africa in Ranchi during their tour of India in 2019. Opening the batting for India, Sharma stayed on the crease for one and a half days and smashed 28 fours and 6 sixes at an impressive strike rate of 83.13. Courtesy of Rohit’s 212 and Ajinkya Rahane’s 115, India posted 497/7 and declared in the first innings. Therefore, the hosts bowled out the visitors twice for 162 and 133 respectively to win the game by an innings and 202 runs.
Rohit made his first appearance in test cricket in 2013 against West Indies and after that, he was irregular in the test side till late 2018. After the omission of Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan post-England series in 2018, Rohit replaced them as the opener from the next series against South Africa and so far down well in the format. Having featured in 59 tests, the swashbuckling batter has accumulated 4137 runs at a captivating average of 45.46 with the help of twelve 100s and seventeen 50s. In the last five years, the Mumbai star has established himself as one of the important members of Team India in the longest format with his attacking batting prowess.
