Sarfaraz Khan Received Maiden India call-up

Former U-19 player Sarfaraz Khan received a maiden India call-up on Monday after KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja were ruled out of the ongoing England test series.  Along with him, Washington Sundar and Saurabh Kumar have also been added to the squad.

The road to the national team for Sarfaraz Khan has not been easy. He had to work rigorously and perform everywhere to make his dream come true. In the recently concluded first-class match between India A and England Lions. the Mumbai batter hit a remarkable 161 off 160 balls to help India win the match by an innings and 16 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Moreover, the flamboyant top-order batsman has been the most consistent batter in India’s domestic circuit. Having played 45 games in first-class cricket, he has amassed 3912 runs at a staggering average of 69.85 while hitting 14 tons and 11 fifties. Sarafaraz drew everyone’s attention when he rocked the Ranji Trophy stage in 2022 by being the highest run-getter with 982 runs on the back of 4 centuries and 2 half-centuries.

It will be interesting to see if Sarfaraz can make his test debut in the next test itself in the absence of in-form batsman KL Rahul or if the management will go with Rajat Patidar who has also proved himself in the domestic arena and the IPL.
