      Smriti Mandhana Became First Indian To Hit 8 Centuries in WODIS, Surpassed Mithali Raj

      Veteran Karnataka opener Smriti Mandhana became the first Indian to hit 8 centuries in the women’s ODIs during the third ODI against New Zealand in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. She surpassed former Indian skipper Mithali Raj who had seven tons to her name to get the throne.

      India was chasing a decent target of 233 runs set by the visitors and opening the batting for India, Mandhana set the tone and batted till 40.1 overs, scoring a magnificent 100 off 122 deliveries with the help of 10 boundaries. Initially, she forged a 76-run partnership for the second wicket with Yashtika Vatia (35) after Shafali departed early. Therefore, a vital 117-run partnership with captain Harmanpreet Kaur assisted India to win the match by six wickets and 40 balls to spare and subsequently to win the three-match series by 2-1. Harmanpreet remained not out on 59 off 63 balls and hit the winning runs with a boundary.
