Sri Lanka Became 2nd Team To Lose 100 Matches in T20

Former Asian powerhouse Sri Lanka became the 2nd team to lose 100 matches in the T20 internationals during their clash against Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup 2024 in Dallas. Bangladesh was the first team to register 100 losses in the format, marking the bizarre feat during their USA T20 series before the World Cup.

Batting first, the former champions crawled to manage 124/9 in their allotted twenty overs. A disciplined and tough bowling performance from Bangladeshi bowlers choked the Lankans where Mustafizur and Rishad Hossain bagged three wickets apiece while Taskin Ahmed snared two scalps. Only opener Pathum Nissanka scored 30+ for the Lions.

In reply, Bangaldesh did not have an easy outing with the bat. They chased down the total by two wickets and six balls to spare with the help of Towhid Hridoy’s quickfire 40 off 20 and Liton Das’s 36 runs. However, Srilankan bowlers created inroads in regular intervals to defend the total but not having a fighting total cost them the match. Slingy seamer Nuwan Thusara was the pick of the bowlers for the Men in Blue with his hostile spell of 4/18.
