KeymasterSunrisers Hyderabad To Keep Head and Nitish Reddy In Their Retentions For IPL 2025
The runner-up of the last IPL season, Sunrisers Hyderabad is all set to keep Aussie opener Travis Head and all-rounder Nitish Reddy in their retentions for the IPL 2025 ahead of the mega auction along with Henrich Klassen, Pat Cummins, and Abhishek Sharma, according to a report published by ESPNcricinfo on 30th October, Wednesday.
With all five retentions and keeping their core group intact, SRH has already spent INR 75 cr from their purse of INR 120 cr and will enter the action with only INR 45 cr and one RTM card for an uncapped player. As per the rules, the first retention will cost 18 cr, the second 14 cr. 11 cr for the third, 18 cr for the fourth, and the fifth retention will get 14 cr. However, the teams are free to reduce or increase the price of their holding players.
Head has agreed to stay for a massive price of INR 14 cr, a big jump compared to his last season’s salary of INR 6.80 cr. He was tremendous with the bat in the previous season, scoring 567 runs in 15 innings at 191.55. Barring the playoff games, where he got out cheaply, he played a huge role in taking SRH to the finals. On the other hand, Andhra boy Nitish Reddy was rewarded with the Emerging Player of the Year award for his incredible all-round performance consisting of 303 runs at 143 and three wickets. Reddy’s price has been set to INR 6 cr, a massive surge from his last salary of INR 20 lacs. If he had not debuted in the Bangaldesh T20 series earlier, he would have been eligible for a fee of INR 4 cr only as an uncapped player.
South African hard-hitter Henrich Klassen wreaked havoc on the opposition bowling lineup at a staggering strike rate of 171.07 and scored 479 runs in 15 outings in the IPL 2024, has fetched the highest amount among retained members with an astonishing INR 23 cr which is more than 5 cr from the slab amount. His excellence in beating the spinners makes him the most dangerous batter in the event.
World Cup-winning Australian skipper Pat Cummins will continue to lead the side after taking the team to the finals in 2024 for the first time since 2020. He will receive a salary of INR 18 cr for his another stint with Hyderabad. Cummins did his job as a bowler and took 18 wickets at 20.33 in 2024, finishing the season as the 2nd highest wicket-taker for the Sunrisers.
Abhishek Sharma, the Punjab-based Southpaw exploded the bowling lineups with his aggressive strokeplay in IPL 2024 and amassed 484 runs in 16 innings. He paired with Head, scoring 599 runs in 13 innings together at a stunning run rate of 13.21 to rip the morale of bowlers.
