KeymasterTeam India Registered Lowest Total At Home In Tests
Team India registered their lowest-ever total at home in tests during the first innings of the first test against New Zealand in Bengaluru on Thursday, October 17th. The visitors’ pace bowling attack ran through the robust batting lineup of India, bundling them for a mere 46 runs which is now their third-lowest total in the format.
After inviting the hosts to bat first, Southee removed the Indian captain Rohit for 2 in the 7th over. Just 14 balls post his dismissal, young pace sensation William ORourke got dangerous Virat Kohli for a duck at the short fine leg with a short-length delivery towards his body. India lost both their experienced campaigners just in a span of nine overs. New Zealand took full advantage of the pressure situation put on India and kept getting wickets at regular intervals, bowling on tight line and length until they were bowled out for 46 in 31.2 overs.
Matt Henry led the Kiwi bowling corp with a dashing 5/15 while ORourke bagged four wickets for 22 runs. For India, only Rishabh Pant could touch the 20-run mark and Jaiswal added 13 runs. Otherwise, five Indian batsmen scored a duck in the game.
New Zealand scored 180/3 in 50 overs at the end of day 2 on the back of a brilliant 91 off 105 by Devon Conway. They are now leading by 134 runs. On the contrary, Ashwin, Jadeja, and Kuldeep claimed one wicket apiece.
