Virat Kohli Completed 9000 Runs In Tests

Ace Indian cricketer Virat Kohli completed 9000 runs in tests on the 3rd day in the 2nd innings of the 1st test against New Zealand at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday, October 18. He became the fourth Indian batter to achieve the milestone and overall 18th batter to touch the mark in tests.

Kohli came to the crease after tea following Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dismissal. He took 15 balls to get off the mark amid tight bowling by Ajaz Patel and Matt Henry, which made him uncomfortable. He scored his first four against Patel off a square cut in the 22nd over and in form, Rohit Sharma also got bowled while defending the ball surprisingly the ball came back into the stumps after touching the ground. India needed a solid partnership with the score at 95-2 in 22 overs. Kohli along with young Sarfaraz started targeting the Kiwi bowlers and stitched a 136-run stand for the 3rd wicket with the Delhite batter adding 70 runs off 102 balls while the latter remaining unbeaten at 70 off only 78 balls.

Unfortunately, Virat nicked a good length ball of Glenn Phillips which happened to be the last ball of day 3 and the Blackcap players were jumping and celebrating in joy as it was a crucial partnership break. He smashed eight boundaries and one six in his resilient knock of 70, helping India to take the score to 231/3 in 49 overs at the end of day 3, trailing behind 125 runs still.
