Virat Kohli Withdraws From First Two Tests Of England Series

Veteran Indian batsman Virat Kohli withdraws from the first two tests of the England series due to some personal reasons.

On Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in India announced the absence of senior cricketer Virat Kohli from the first two games via social media handles. The board has said that Kohli talked to the captain and team management regarding granting his leave and they have agreed to release him for the matches which will start on 25th January and 2nd February respectively.

The BCCI has also urged the fans to not speculate on the nature of his personal reasons and to respect his privacy.

Team India will surely miss the services of Virat Kohli as the batter has amassed the third most runs among Indians against England in tests with 1991 runs in 28 matches, averaging an impressive 42.36. In the last test series against South Africa, Kohli ended with 172 runs in 2 matches under his belt, the 2nd highest in the series.

The replacement of Virat Kohli will be declared soon by the board. However, he will join the team for the 3rd test match in Rajkot.
