KeymasterVirat Kohli’s Test Debut
The modern-day great player Virat Kohli made his international debut in an ODI against Sri Lanka in 2008. After proving his mettle in 2010 and 2011 in the limited over formats, Kohli had to get into the Indian test set-up which is still his most favorite. The Delhi-born batsman had the style and technique to survive in the longest format of the game, demonstrating it properly in his outings in white ball cricket.
Virat Kohli made his test debut in the first match of India’s tour of the West Indies in 2011 in Kingston, Jamaica. He failed to replicate his real potential in his first appearance in the greatest format, having scored 4 runs in the first innings and a toiled 15 off 54 balls in the 2nd innings. Both times Caribbean seamer Fidel Edwards got the edge of Virat Kohli. The elegant right-hand batter hit only three fours in his first outing in tests. Who could have thought that from there Virat Kohli would make an illustrious test career? He has served India as the key batter for more than a decade now.
Having featured in 113 tests, Kohli has amassed 8848 runs at a dashing average of 49.16, including 29 hundreds and 30 fifties with 254* being his highest score.
