Shubman Gill Became Third Indian To Score 700 Runs In A Test Series

Ace batsman Shubman Gill became the third Indian to score 700 runs in a test series on the 5th day of the Manchester Test on Sunday against England. A resilient 103 laced with 12 boundaries in the tricky second innings took him past the 700-run mark in the ongoing series.

Former batting great Sunil Gavaskar holds the record for the most runs in a test series, a feat he achieved during India’s 1970/71 test series in the West Indies. Earlier in 2024, another young gun batter, Yashasvi Jaiswal, scored 712 runs in 5 matches in 2024 against the touring English team. Gill has now surpassed Jaiswal to acquire the third spot on the elite list.
