The Southpaw scored 15461 runs in 396 games across formats at an impressive average of 38.94 with 33 centuries and 81 fifties. The stats won’t speak about the impact he had on the game for Australians, he stepped up on big occasions such as the 2007 World Cup final, making a blitz 149 off 104 balls in Bridgetown against Sri Lanka.
The maiden IPL season saw the participation of big names like Sachin Tendulkar, Shane Warne, Sanath Jayasuriya, Muttiah Muralitharan, etc, so the name of Gilchrist is not surprising here. The ace player was acquired by the Deccan Chargers for $700000 and he stayed there for two more seasons. He led the Deccan Chargers to their maiden IPL title in 2009 and played a pivotal role by scoring the second most runs in that edition with 495 runs in 16 matches.

After Deccan Chargers released the Aussie stalwart, Kings Xi Punjab bought Adam Gilchrist for $900000 and appointed him as the captain of the side. He played there until his retirement in 2013. Having played 34 games there, the Southpaw amassed more than 800 runs with the highest score of 106.
