KeymasterAman Sehrawat Bagged Bronze Medal In Wrestling, Took India’s Tally To Six
Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat bagged a Bronze medal in the 57kg Men’s freestyle wrestling on Friday, August 10, taking India’s 2024 Olympics medal tally to six. The Haryana boy defeated Puerto Rica’s Darian Toi Cruz by 13-5 in the Bronze medal bout in Paris in the ongoing Olympics.
Aman Sehrawat became the sixth Indian male wrestler to win an Olympic medal after KD Jadhav, Sushil Kumar, Yogeshwar Dutt, Ravi Dahiya, and Bajrang Puniya.
The young prodigy had a stellar first day at the event as he beat his opponents in the round of 16 and quarter-finals, but got a solid loss in the semi-finals against Japan’s Rei Higuchi by 0-10 who later went on to win the Gold medal by defeating the USA wrestler Lee.
Tou Cruz scored the first point in the semi-finals by pushing Aman out of the playing area. However, the Indian sensation made a quick comeback by locking the leg and flipping Cruz, gaining two points. Then at the thirty-second break, the scoreline stood at 4-3.
In the second half, Aman made a superb start, securing two points by locking Toi Cruz and injuring him in the process. The Puerto Rican was seen asking for medical assistance. Meanwhile, the Indian wrestler took advantage of his discomfort and bagged another two technical points.
The injury amid the fight turned out to be a menace for Toi Cruz and he kept losing points continuously, and eventually, Aman defeated him by 13-5.
