BCCI Revaled Squads For India Tour Of Sri Lanka 2024, Suryakumar Yadav To Lead T20 Team

The Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) has revealed the T20 and ODI squads for the upcoming India tour of Sri Lanka 2024 which will start from 27th July with a three-match T20 series in Pallekele. Veteran batsman Suryakumar Yadav is all set to lead the T20 team despite Hardik Pandya in the squad. Among seniors, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who recently retired from the shortest format have been included in the ODI team.

Ravindra Jadeja has been excluded from the ODI side as Axar Patel looks promising after his heroics in the T20 World Cup 2024 while star seamer Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the whole tour.

The youngsters Riyan Parag and Harshit Rana who had a great run in IPL 2024 in their respective departments have received maiden call-ups in the ODI squad. Experienced wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul is back in the team for the first time after hurting his quadriceps during the test series against England in January.

The skipper of the last T20 series for India, Shubman Gill has been appointed as the deputy of the captains for both formats in the series. Shreyas Iyer and Kuldeep Yadav have also found a place in the ODI team after representing the team for the last time in the format in the South Africa series and the 2023 World Cup apiece.

Dynamite wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant will feature in both formats in the series along with Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dube, MD Siraj, Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag, Axar Patel, and Khaleel Ahmed.

This series will mark the beginning of Gautam Gambhir’s era as the head coach after he replaced Rahul Dravid whose tenure ended sweetly with the T20 World Cup 2024 triumph in Barbados last month.
