Corbin Bosch Became First South African To Have Fifer And Century In Same Test Match

All-rounder Corbin Bosch etched his name into South African cricket history by becoming the first player from his country in over two decades to score a century and take a five-wicket haul in the same Test match. The milestone came during the 1st Test against Zimbabwe on July 1st in Bulawayo, where Bosch delivered a match-winning performance.

Batting first, Bosch smashed an unbeaten 100 off 124 balls, showcasing his aggressive flair and composure under pressure. He followed it up with a fiery spell of 5 for 43 in Zimbabwe’s second innings, helping South Africa bowl out the hosts for just 208 runs. The collective performance led by Bosch powered South Afica to hand Zimbabwe their biggest ever defeat by 328 runs.

The last Proteas player to achieve this rare double was Jacques Kallis, who scored 139 and took 5/21* against Bangladesh in Potchefstroom in 2002. Kallis had accomplished the feat for the first time in 1999 against the West Indies in Cape Town, with 110 runs and 5/90.

With this performance, Bosch becomes only the fourth South African to record a century and a five-wicket haul in the same Test match, joining the ranks of Jimmy Sinclair (1899), Aubrey Faulkner (1910), and Jacques Kallis (1999 & 2002).
