Hardik Pandya Named The Captain of New Mumbai Indians for IPL 2024
Star Indian all-rounder, Hardik Pandya has been named the new Mumbai Indians by the team management on 15th December. Hardik was traded to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans in the trading window prior to the 2024 IPL auction.
With Hardik being the captain of the Mumbai-based franchise, Rohit Sharma’s glorious 10-year captaincy stint with the Gold and Blue came to an end. Rohit joined MI in 2011 and took charge as captain in 2013 when the team had no trophy in the cabinet. In his very first year, he guided Mumbai Indians to their maiden IPL title. Rohit did not stop there and led them to four more IPL triumphs in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020 respectively.
Hardik was released by MI in 2022 and Gujarat Titans picked him before the mega auction. Then the potent all-rounder led GT to lift the trophy in their maiden IPL season itself. In 2023 too, he captained the franchise all the way to the finals but unfortunately, CSK won the finals in a last-ball thriller in Ahmedabad.
Mumbai Indians won their last title in 2020, so it will be challenging for Hardik Pandya to bring back the newly set up MI to lift the trophy again.
