Joao Felix Transfer News, Moving To Chelsea From Atletico Madrid

Portuguese attacking midfielder and striker Joao Felix has been transferred to Chelsea from Atletico Madrid on Tuesday 21st August. The English powerhouse Chelsea has signed him on a seven-year contract, a six-year deal, and an option for one more year for a whooping fee of 46,3 million pounds or $59 million. Moreover, the Blues have also mentioned a performance bonus for the 24-year-old.

This will be Joao Felix’s second term with the Blues at Stamford Bridge, having played for them on loan in the 2022-23 season where he scored only four goals in twenty appearances. He spent the next year in Spain with Barcelona on loan and netted 10 goals along with providing 6 assists. The deal will also make it easy for the English mid-fielder Conor Gallagher to head to Atletico Madrid for a decent fee of 36 million pounds.

Atletico Madrid paid a hefty amount of 113 million pounds to Benfica to complete the signing of Felix in 2019, the fifth most expensive in history. He played 131 games for Madrid and scored 34 goals with 18 assists to his name and won the La Liga 2020-21 with them.

Felix is Chelsea’s ninth signing of this summer and is expected to make his second debut with the Blue Army in the Europa League qualifying game against Servette. He can even seen in action in their first Premier League game against Wolves.
