Most Fifty Plus Scores In IPL

Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli reached a monumental milestone by becoming the player with the most fifty-plus scores in IPL history during the 37th match of IPL 2025 against Punjab Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Stadium, Bengaluru, on 20th April. Kohli overtook David Warner, who previously held the record with 66 fifty-plus scores.

The game saw Punjab Kings set a competitive target of 157 runs, courtesy of collective contributions from Prabhsimran Singh (33), Inlish (29), Shashank Singh (31), and Marco Jansen (25). Kohli began the chase with a boundary off Arshdeep Singh but lost his opening partner on the last ball of the first over. Undeterred, the 36-year-old batting maestro anchored the innings, stitching a vital 103-run partnership with Devdutt Padikkal, who scored an explosive 61 off 35 balls. Kohli later built a steady 34-run stand with Rajat Patidar for the third wicket and guided his team to victory with an unbeaten knock of 73 runs off 54 balls, featuring seven boundaries and one six.

This knock marked Kohli’s 67th fifty-plus score in IPL, solidifying his lead with a total of 68 fifty-plus scores as of now. Among IPL players, only two have crossed 60 fifty-plus scores—Kohli and Warner—while Shikhar Dhawan ranks third, having finished his IPL career with 53 fifty-plus scores.

Virat Kohli’s latest achievement reaffirms his dominance in the IPL and cements his legacy as one of the tournament’s greatest batsmen.
