The grand final of the Champions Trophy 2025 between India and New Zealand saw spinners from both teams combine to bowl the most overs in an ODI match in ICC tournament history. A total of 73 overs were delivered by the spinners, with 38 overs bowled by India’s Ravindra Jadeja (10), Kuldeep Yadav (10), Varun Chakravarthy (10), and Axar Patel (8), and 35 overs bowled by New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner (10), Michael Bracewell (10), Rachin Ravindra (10), and Glenn Phillips (5).

The dry and slow surface of Dubai proved to be a paradise for spinners, as they consistently controlled the game whenever the fast bowlers struggled to counter the batters due to a lack of seam and swing. The second-highest number of overs bowled by spinners in an ODI match of an ICC tournament also occurred during the Champions Trophy 2025, in the semi-final between India and Australia in Dubai, where spinners delivered a combined 65.1 overs. The third-highest was recorded in the group stage of the same tournament during the India vs. New Zealand match at the same venue, with a combined 62.3 overs bowled.
