MS Dhoni Resigns From Captaincy, Ruturaj Gaikwad Becomes New CSK Captain
Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has resigned from the captaincy role and Rutiraj Gaikwad has been named the new CSK captain.
The declaration has been made by the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) instead of Chennai Super Kings management. Gaikwad was even present at the pre-IPL captains’ conclave in Chennai on Thursday, 21st March.
MS Dhoni captained the Chennai-based franchise from 2008 to 2023 and won five titles for them. He lifted his first trophy in 2010 by beating Mumbai Indians by 22 runs at the DY Patil Stadium. The Ranchi boy contributed with 22 runs off 15 balls in the game. CSK clinched their last IPL title under Dhoni’s leadership in the last edition itself (2023) by beating Gujarat Titans in a last-ball thriller.
As a skipper, MS has won 132 matches out of 233 at a staggering win % of 58.84, the highest win by any captain.

If we talk about the leadership experience of Ruturaj Gaikwad then we should talk about the recently concluded Asian Games in Hangzhou. He led the young Indian side to win the gold medal. Hence, he may be the right candidate to take the responsibility from here on.
