Sensational Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra bagged the silver medal in the Lausanne Diamond League tournament 2024 in Switzerland on Thursday 22nd August. Chopra registered his best throw of 89.49 meters in his sixth and last attempt.

Neeraj Chopra Bagged Silver In Diamond League 2024Grenada’s Anderson Peter who clinched the Bronze medal in the recently concluded Paris Olympics won the Gold with a gigantic throw of 90.61 meters while Germany’s Julian Weber secured the Bronze with an impressive throw of 87.08 meters.

Chopra started with a decent throw of 82.10 m in his first chance. He improved it a bit in his second attempt and covered 83.21 meters. His third and fourth throw were of 83.13 and 82.34 meters. The Haryana boy posted an 85.58-meter throw in the fifth attempt, seeming to get back to his standards, and eventually, flung a mammoth 89,49 m, his best this season to get the 2nd place.

However, Chopra won’t be happy with himself upon failing to touch the 90-meter mark. In the Paris Olympics also, he clinched the Silver with a massive throw of 89.45 meters. Chopra sustained a groin injury before the Olympics and did not undergo surgery as it was not bothering him much. But in order to win the finals of the marquee event, it will be necessary to record a throw beyond 90 meters.

The top six javelin throwers on the season-best list will compete in the finals of the Diamond League in the next month in Brussels. Neeraj Chopra won the Diamond League title in 2022 and earned silver in 2023 behind Vadlejch.
