Neeraj Chopra Failed To Defend Gold Medal, Arshad Nadeem Clinched Gold In Javelin

Star Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra failed to defend his Gold Medal in the finals of the Men’s Javelin on Friday in the Olympics 2024 in Paris. Pakistan’s Arshdam clinched the Gold medal after registering an Olympic record throw of 92.97 meters while Neeraj had to make peace with the Silver medal.

Neeraj started his final with a foul throw and then made a commendable turnaround in his second attempt with a monstrous throw of 89.45 meters but again made a foul in the remaining four attempts. It was not a good day at the office for the 26-year-old as he could not fire a legal throw except in the second chance. If he could make some legit throws it would have been possible to breach the 90-meter mark.

The earlier longest throw in the Men’s Javelin in the Olympics was made by Norway’s Andreas Thorkildsen in Beijing in 2008. Nadeem crossed the 90-meter mark only once in the finals which came during his second attempt. Grenada’s Peters Andersons bagged the Bronze medal with a huge throw of 88.54 meters.

Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch got the fourth position with his best throw of 88.50 meters and he was followed by Yego of Kenya who registered 87.72 meters.
