Vinesh Pogat Entered Semi-Finals Of Women's 50KG Wrestling

Japan’s Yui Susaki is a four-time World champion and bagged the prestigious Gold medal in the Olympics 2020 in Tokyo. Susaki did not leak a single point on her journey in the Olympics 2024 before facing Vinesh who beat her with the difference of one point. It was Susaki’s fourth loss in her entire career and the first one at the international level.

When the scoreline was 2-2, Vignesh already started her celebration as she would have been announced the winner upon scoring the last point. Nevertheless, Yui and her team challenged the judges for the decision which added an extra point to Vinesh’s tally after the call was overruled.

Haryana’s pride Vinesh Pogat is only one win away from securing a medal for India. She will face Cuba’s Yusneylys Guzman in the semi-finals of the Women’s 50KG wrestling at IST 10.13 pm on 6th August. If Vinesh defeats Guzman in the semis then she will have a golden chance to write history as no Indian has ever bagged a Gold in wrestling in the Olympics.
