Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who hails from the Samastipur district of Bihar, grabbed all the limelight during the IPL 2025 mega auction. The 13-year-old prodigy was sold to Rajasthan Royals for INR 1.1 cr from his base price of INR 30 lacs in Jeddah on 25th November. With this amazing deal, Vaibhav became the youngest player to feature in the IPL.

Rajasthan made the first move for him in the auction, and then Delhi Capitals joined to rope him in. However, when the price reached 1.10 cr, DC stepped back, and RR secured the signing.
Vaibhab made a name for himself by playing in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy at the age of 12 for Bihar and amassing almost 400 runs in five innings. He also became the youngest player to play in the Ranji Trophy in the modern era on his debut against Mumbai in January this year, at the age of 12 years and 284 days.
Just before the mega auction, Suryavanshi made his U-19 debut for India against Australia and scored a stunning 104 while touching three figures in just 58 balls, becoming the fastest Indian to score an international century in U-19 cricket and overall second fastest, only behind English Moeen Ali who slammed a century in 56 balls.
Since the onset of his professional journey, Suryavanshi has shown signs of excellence on the cricket field. The Southpaw possesses a solid technique and a range of strokeplay.
However, he has been the subject of controversy regarding age fraud lately, as an old video surfaced on social media showing him saying he would turn 14 on 27 September 2023. Therefore, his father has relinquished any negative comment regarding his age by mentioning the Bone test he went through before participating in the state-level and national tournaments.
