KKR Won Their Third Title In IPL

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won their third title in the IPL after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets at the P Chidambaram Stadium. Middle-order batsman Venkatesh Iyer hit the winning runs for the KKR.

After deciding to bowl first, the Purple Army bowled out the Orange Army for a mere 113 runs on the back of an impressive bowling show led by Andre Russell’s 3/19. Mitchell Starc provided two breakthroughs in the powerplay which included the big wickets of Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi. For SRH, skipper Pat Cummins was the highest run scorer with 24 off 19 balls followed by Aiden Markram who scored 20 off 23 balls.

In the pursuit of clinching the trophy, KKR got off to a brisk start although they lost Narine early. Venkatesh Iyer’s attacking 52 off 26 balls and Rahmatullah Gurbaz’s steady 39 in 32 deliveries aided the Kolkata-based franchise in chasing down the score by eight wickets and 58 balls to spare.
