Dinesh Karthik To Play In SA20 League

Former Indian wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik is all set to play in the SA20 league in the next season. He will become the first Indian to be featured in the South African T20 League. Karthik who retired from all forms of the game recently will represent the Paarl Royals, a franchise of the Rajasthan Royals group.

Karthik had an outing to remember in the 17th season of the IPL (Indian Premier League). In 15 matches, the charismatic lower-order batsman amassed 326 runs at a staggering strike rate of 187.35, including 27 fours and 22 sixes. Overall, the Tamilnadu boy made 4842 runs in 257 matches in his 17-year glorious career with the help of 22 fifties. After his stint in the IPL, he was soon named the batting coach and mentor of the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The David Miller-led Paarl Royals has been consistent with the performance since the inception of the event in 2023. They qualified for the semi-finals in both editions but failed to advance to the finals. With a valuable contributor like Karthik, the Royals’ path to lift the trophy will be facilitated.
