      Gautam Gambhir’s IPL Captaincy Record

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy record in the IPL is one of the best. He led a side in the IPL from 2009 to 2017 and won 71 games out of 129 games. His win percentage in the marquee event remained an impressive 55.03. Gambhir first captained Delhi Capitals during his stint with them in 2009 and 2010. In 2011, the Southpaw joined Kolkata Knight Riders as a captain after being the most expensive player. He led KKR from 2011 to 2017 and took them to the playoffs five times while lifting the trophy in 2012 and 2014 respectively. He is the third captain to win more than one IPL title after Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni.

As a skipper, Gambhir not only impressed with his tactics on the field but also scored runs to set an example for others. The Delhi-born opening batsman scored 3518 runs as a leader in the Indian Premier League. In KKR’s 2012 triumph, he was the top run scorer with 590 runs in 17 games with six fifties under his belt.
