Rohit Sharma Eclipsed Sachin Tendulkar To Own A Major ODI Record

Rohit Sharma eclipsed legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar to own the major record for most fifty-plus scores by an Indian opener in international cricket. During the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium on Thursday 4th August, he scored a quick 64 off 44 balls with the help of four maximums and five fours and it was his 121st 50+ score as an opener at the highest level.

Sachin Tendulkar batted at different positions in his illustrious career and as an opener, he smashed 120 fifty-plus scores and all came in the ODI format alone. Despite retiring from the T20 format, Rohit seems not to have changed his intent and carried it in the ODIs and has already scored two impressive fifties in the series.

For his ability to hit sixes against spinners and pace bowlers equally, Rohit currently stands in the 3rd position with 330 sixes, one less than dangerous Caribbean batsman Chris Gayle.
