KeymasterTilak Varma Became Second Indian To Hit Back To Back Centuries In T20I
Young sensation Tilak Varma became the second Indian to hit back-to-back centuries in T20 internationals during the fourth T20 against South Africa on Friday in Johannesburg. He first scored a spectacular 107* off 56 balls in Centurion and followed it by a thundering 120* off only 47 balls in India’s huge 135-run victory.
Tilak walked out to bat after the dismissal of opener Abhishek Sharma in the sixth over and unleashed an onslaught on the South African bowlers with a flurry of boundaries to race to the three-digit score in a mere 41 balls while staying on 120* in 47 deliveries at the end 20 overs, taking India’s score to a staggering 283/1. The Southpaw smacked ten maximums and ten fours in his explosive innings and stitched a massive partnership of 200 runs with Sanju Samson for the 2nd wicket who contributed with 109 off 56 balls in the game.
Varma became a part of history as the maiden instance of a full-member team getting two centuries from two players in the same innings in a T20 international. The 22-year-old with the ability of aggressive strokeplay seems to be sealing his place at no 3 in the Indian T20 setup, stamping his authority with two daddy hundreds in this position.
