Sanju Samson Became First Indian To Hit Two Consecutive Centuries In T20I

Sanju Samson became the first Indian batsman to hit two consecutive centuries in T20 internationals during the 1st T20 against South Africa in Durban on Friday. He smashed 107 runs in just 50 deliveries in India’s massive 61-run victory over the hosts and bagged the Mom award.

In the last game of the Bangladesh series, the Kerala batsman scored a sensational 111 off only 47 balls, including 11 fours and 8 sixes, to help India post their highest-ever T20 total of 297/6. Sanju started here where he left off in the last game, slammed the Proteas bowlers all over the park right from the outset, and hit 10 soaring maximums and 7 fours while touching the three figures in 47 balls in his rampage knock. Sanju’s belligerent hundred helped India to post a fighting total of 202/8 runs in 20 overs which in reply turned out to be exceeding for the hosts as they were folded for a mere 141 amid terrific spin bowling by Varun Chakravarthy (3) and Ravi Bishnoi (3).

Sanju made his debut in 2015, but he did not get a long run in a particular position at the highest level. However, the Gautam-Surya duo has given him a new life as an opener, and he has emerged as a beast, scoring two centuries already to cement his position in India’s t20 setup.
