KeymasterPat Cummins Completed 300 Wickets In Test Cricket
Australian fast bowling ace Pat Cummins etched his name into cricketing history by claiming his 300th Test wicket during the World Test Championship Final against South Africa on June 12, 2025, at the iconic Lord’s, London. He became the 8th Australian and 40th player overall to achieve this monumental feat, reaching the landmark in just 68 matches.
Cummins Leads Australia’s Fightback
After being bowled out for 212 in their first innings, Australia needed their bowlers to step up against a decent South African batting lineup. Mitchell Starc struck early, dismissing Markram in the first over, and later removed Rickelton in the 9th over. Then, skipper Pat Cummins joined the party, clean-bowling Mulder in the 16th over before removing a well-set Bavuma for 36.
Cummins continued his rampage, dismissing Verreynne and Jansen, before inducing the edge of well-set Bedingham (45 off 111) in the 56th over to complete his fifer. His final blow came with the wicket of Rabada, bundling South Africa out for 138, giving Australia a crucial 74-run lead.
Breaking Records Along the Way
Cummins’ 300th wicket came in just 13,725 balls, making him the fifth-fastest bowler to reach this milestone, three deliveries quicker than West Indies great Malcolm Marshall.
Additionally, Cummins now boasts 136 wickets as Australia’s Test captain, second only to Imran Khan, who holds the record with 187 wickets as a skipper.
